Ducks
Every spring for the past three years we've had a pair of mallard ducks hanging around our pond. This year (largely thanks to the emergence of Duck Dynasty and my brother in law's new-found interest in duck hunting) we've been putting out cracked corn. And our flock has grown from two to approaching thirty. Every morning before I go to work, I put my camera in the car and consequently I now have a ton of beautiful reference photos ducks. I can't wait to paint them! Here's the first quick little sketch.

Dory
This dory lives down in South Musquash. This is based on one of my photos from last summer.

Prussia
This painting was done from a photo of Prussia that I took in the late spring of 2010. The sun was shining, and the grass was green. I took a few photos of Prussia and her sister Peregrina, and then Prussia led me on a merry chase around the pasture, much to the amusement of the neighbours, who enjoyed the show from their deck.
